On October 28, 2019, a meeting was conducted regarding the cooperation project between the Ministry of Peshmerga and Iraqi Ministry of Defense, proposed by MOPE Directorate of Reform. The meeting was attended by Shorsh Ismael (Minister of Peshmerga), Sarbast Lazgin (Deputy Minister of Peshmerga), Lieutenant-General Jabbar Yawar (MOPE Sec-General), Lieutenant-General Jamal Mohammad (MOPE Chief-of-Staff) and Coalition Forces representative.

At the start of the meeting, the Minister of Peshmerga expressed content on the news of ISIS leader, Abubakr Baghdadi’s death and an end to his criminal life. He thanked the Coalition Forces, particularly the United States, for conducting the operation that led to his death — hoping the cooperation between them and Kurdistan Region continues until all the issues in the region are resolved. Next, the Directorate of Reform gave a detailed explanation of the cooperation projects between the Ministry of Peshmerga and Iraqi Ministry of Defense — to create a proposal for such a vital project to be approved by the MOPE Council.

Next, the participants put forth their ideas and suggestions regarding resolving the existing issues between Iraqi Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Peshmerga, and achieving the rights and privileges of the Peshmerga from the Iraqi Government.
