On September 10, 2019, Kurdistan Parliament’s Committees of Interior, and Security and Peshmerga visited the Ministry of Peshmerga. During their visit, they shared a memorandum regarding the Peshmerga’s reform process, improved conditions and reorganization efforts with Shorsh Ismael (KRG Minister of Peshmerga) and Sarbast Lazgin (Deputy Minister of Peshmerga).
During the meeting, in which all the members of the Parliament’s Committees of Interior and Peshmerga were present, the Minister of Peshmerga praised the role of the Kurdistan Parliament regarding the Ministry’s reform process as well as their supervision on the larger KRG projects and relations. Consequently, he briefly shared some points on the Ministry’s duties and upcoming 4-year agenda, which he hoped to put forth to the Parliament and welcome their suggestions and support in their implementation, particularly on improving the living conditions of the Peshmerga and reorganization efforts to unify all Peshmerga Forces under the roof of the MOPE.
At the end of the meeting, both sides insisted on increased cooperation towards working towards improved Peshmerga conditions and stronger unified Ministry of Peshmerga.
