On April 28, 2019, the Ministry of Peshmerga’s High Commission, consisting of Sarbast Lazgin (Deputy Minister of Peshmerga), Jabbar Yawar (Peshmerga Sec-General), Lieutenant General Jamal Mohammad (Peshmerga Chief-of-Staff and the Ministry’s Military Board, met with the Board of Peshmerga Reform and consultants to the Coalition partners at the Directorate of Reform in Erbil.
The meeting began with Colonel Will giving an infographic summarizing the current reform projects and their respective progress. Next, the Directorate of Reform shared a detailed report of the projects and put them up for a detailed discussion with the attendees. After an exchange of ideas, the parties agreed that the plan is ready to be raised to the Ministry of Peshmerga for approval and the necessary mechanisms required for its implementation.
The meeting concluded with the Ministry of Peshmerga’s High Commission expressing their commitment for the reform projects and their readiness to support with their implementation. The Coalition’s consultants also reiterated their support to the Directorate of Reform as well as the Ministry of Peshmerga in general. Lastly, Major General Dler Miran (Director of Reform) thanked the support of the Ministry and the consultants from the Coalition partners and said, “Through the cooperation and unified action from the Coalition partners and the Ministry of Peshmerga, we are certain of the reform process’ success.”
